The Family Records Centre The Official source for family records. Births, Marriage and Death certificate information, census, wills and much more including links to major genealogy web sites.
The International Genealogical Index The largest on-line resource for all parish records compiled by The Church of the Latter Day Saints. Not all of the records are transcribed from parish registers. Two of the collections called Ancestral File and Pedigree Resource File consist of material submitted by individual family historians and the entries have not necessarily been verified.
Genuki A comprehensive collection of information for family historians researching the British Isles. Genuki is a gateway to a large and increasing number of on-line resources for the UK and Ireland.
Cyndi's List The main UK page which is an index to the other pages that contain links for the British Isles., general UK sites and British Military sites.
Documents On Line This site allows you online access to The National Archives' collection of digitised public records including World War One Campaign Medals, World War Two Merchant Seamen's Medals and over a million Wills. Searching the index is free, copies of downloaded documents are £3.50.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission The Debt of Honour Register. The database lists 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars together with details of the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations world-wide. Details are included of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action during the Second World War.
General Registration1 - Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates FreeBMD is a free to access index for certificates. The index is not complete but some 129,229,025 certificates have been indexed on line by volunteers and data is frequently being added.
General Registration2 This is not a free to view site, see their pricing plan. It does however have the complete indexes for Birth, Marriage and Death certificates from 1837 - 2002 as well as British Nationals overseas from 1761 to 1994. It also has the advantage of the facility to order certificates on-line.
