INTRODUCTION

If you are tracing your family history you will be aware that what started out as a search regarding the names of your parents soon turns into a search on many names and for that reason I have headed my web site with just two names, the names of my parents. Other names that have been added to the tree are detailed … here

Beginner, new to family history? If you haven't been bitten by the genealogy bug yet, I guarantee you soon will be! Apart from being totally absorbing it is truly addictive. Tracing your ancestors is like a giant jigsaw puzzle and there is no limit to the number of 'pieces' you will need. You have a hobby for life, any interruption to deal with family commitments will have you itching to get back to your family history. The discovery of a long awaited small piece of information could have you exploring new avenues along a family line which seemed to have come to a halt. When we are on holiday I always try to fit in a visit (husband permitting!) to any second hand bookshops and the local library. The library may not be in the area your are researching but most now have a Family/Local History section which will usually yield some books of interest to the family historian. While you are there look at their ex stock for sale books, prices are very reasonable. Look in the topography section in second hand bookshops to see if there are any books on the area you are interested in. It is usually cheaper to buy books relating to a different county than the one you are in. Your new hobby could bring a whole new meaning to visiting charity shops, markets and boot fairs for books, postcards, old documents, family bibles, maps and other ephemera.
If you are reading this web page then you will already know what a vast amount of genealogical resources are on the internet.

I am not new to Family History but I am very new to creating web pages so if you spot a mistake or you have a problem with the web site please let me know.
